Architecture
Designing With Daylight First
By Dev Anand · 2 April 2025 · 5 min read
Light is the most luxurious material in any home — and the only one that's free. Here's how we design around it.
Before we choose a single finish, we study how light moves through a space across the day. Where does the morning sun land? Where does the room go dark at four?
Materials read completely differently under natural light. A warm travertine glows at golden hour and turns cool and architectural at noon. We design for both.
Artificial light is then layered to flatter — never to fight — the daylight. The goal is a home that feels right at every hour, not just in the photograph.
